Hello Erie-Lackawanna (E-L) and DL&W enthusiasts & collectors . . .

For your consideration - this nice 8x10" b&w glossy print photograph of Erie-Lackawanna freight NY-98 eastbound on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap in November of 1973 …36 years ago this coming week. We are standing on the New Jersey shore of the Delaware River, looking across to Pennsylvania. The train is approaching an area known as Point of Gap. Route 611 is above. NY98 is powered by EMD SDP45's #3653, 3659, and SD45 #3631. Following we see a Sea Train TOFC and a couple of small truck double-deck auto transport flat cars. About 2 years from this date there would be quite a spectacular derailment and fire at this location. (Please see scan of photo loading below. The white mark you see on the lead engine's fuel tank is actually a call box or transformer that is mounted on the track-side utility pole. This print was professionally darkroom-processed from original negative.)
