Piano Bench Vintage Antique Ornate
Being a piano technician and someone who also sells pianos, I know: Having a matching bench or one that closely matches the piano enhances the appearearance, increases the value of the piano and would make it much easier to sell. Benches in this furniture style are rare. This bench is ready now. A bench found or bought elsewhere will most likely need work and woodworkers, upulsterers and refinishers are expensive. Most likely the final cost would be more than im asking. Part of restoring the pianos is restoring the benches and I have a lot of experience doing that.
I bought this bench and did a lot of work to it. I reglued some of the loose joints. The bench is now sturdy. I cleaned and reconditioned the original finish. I also reupulstered the top. I am not an expert upolsterer, but I think I did a quality, neat, accurate, long lasting job. I did not strip down sand, repair the small dings and dents, respray and polish the bench because I thought it might put the price out of reach for many prospective buyers and the color I chose might not be what someone wants. I did not restore the bench the best way it could be done but it is restored well, it looks good, is very functional and should hold up for many years. Many would be happy with the bench the way it is. The bench can be refinished later in the color of the owners choosing. I think I have fairly "good taste"but people can easily change the upolstery if they want to. I used upolstery tacks (made for the job) which are easily removable (I did not use nails or staples). My fabric can be used as a pattern should fabric be replaced.
