Pink Organdy 1930s Compo Shirley Temple Doll Dress

This is a very nice Shirley Temple style doll dress with a ruffle collar and a full skirt and made with a sheer pink fabric.  The dress would be perfect for a 13" to 15" doll.  It is factory made and probably dates to the 1930s, but there is no label.  The ruffled collar is 1 1/2" deep.  The dress is sleeveless with just a small band at the armholes for sleeves. 

The dress is 6 1/2" long.  The waist is 9 1/4" around.  The shoulder width is 4 1/2".  I am using a 13" Shirley Temple doll to model the outfit so you can see how it looks on that size doll.  It would probably fit a 14" to 15" a little better.  Even though the dress is a little big for the 13" doll, it still looks very nice on her.

The dress is in fairly good condition for the age.  Over all it is quite nice, but some one added piping to the opening in the back of the dress and some hooks and eyes.  The piping is just sewn on with a running stitch and I think this could easily be removed and brought back to the original opening.  When the hooks and eyes are also removed the dress would have to be pinned shut for closure.  Originally it was meant to be closed that way.  This style dress with the deep ruffle collar was usually designed with the end of the ruffle in the back sewn onto the bodice.  The person who added the piping and hooks started below the ruffle, so that part of the top is still original.  There is one place in the back where the seam that attaches the skirt to the bodice has separated.  I have a close up picture of this, but it does not show too well.
