Pirate / Nautical Pencil Spyglass Telescope w/ lens cap This auction is for a simple working spyglass telescope of the Galilean design. During the era of Pirates and tall ships, this very small pocket sized telescope would have been in high demand for it's ease of portability. This type of spyglass is also referred to as a pencil telescope because it is so very slim, as well as being quite small. The tubes and the cover are made of solid uncoated brass that will gain an authentic antiqued patina over time. If you do not want this patina, it is easily removed with polish. All optics are made of glass. The spyglass measures 9.5" unfolded and folds to a portable 5.75". It is only 7/8 of an inch wide at its widest. This fully functioning spyglass magnifies to 3X, and is new with no problems.
