!~Beautiful Polished Baltic Insect Amber~Large Piece With Multiple Fossil Insects~!

This auction is for 1 piece of polished Baltic amber with at least one fossilized insect. The penny gives a good sense for the size of the piece (a penny is 19mm). The pictures were taken in unfiltered sunshine. You can see the excellent clarity of this amber in the pictures the way it passes and colors the sunlight.

This piece has two large flies, side by side. They look like mosquitoes, and one has a visible probiscus. They came out in the pictures excellent and they are perfect. It is always difficult to get a piece with fossils in such good positions for stunning views and photographing. There are also some beautiful bubbles in bubbles, all sizes and could be enhydros.

This is fine Baltic amber with actual insects that are up to 50 million years old!!

Thank you for visiting my auction!

The Greeks believed that amber was petrified sunrays. It was even believed to be the petrified tears of the god’s. The Ancients prized amber for the magical properties that electricity exhibited when rubbed. The term electricity is derived from the Greek word, elektron, which is also the Greek word for amber. In modern times, different uses for the petrified rays have been found. The better quality amber was and still is polished and used for jewelry.

Amber gives a soothing, light energy that is both calming and energizing at the same time. It can help manifest desires and heighten intellectual abilities, clarity of thought, and wisdom. It is said to cleanse its environment by drawing out negativity, and is said to relieve physical pain the same way. It brings the energies of patience, protection, psychic shielding, romantic love, sensuality, purification, balance, healing and calmness to those who wear or carry it. It is considered a good luck charm for marriage. Amber is excellent for inner child work and past life work. Amber is associated with the solar plexus chakra and sometimes the sacral chakra. Mystical lore says that amber is beneficial for purifying the body, headaches, bone problems, heart problems, circulation, ears, hearing problems, endocrine system, fibromyalgia, intestinal/digestive disorders, kidney, bladder, lungs, and general healing purposes.

How can you tell if amber is genuine? Appearance of the insect, the burn test, the float test and the UV test are some methods.

The insects that are now fossils lived approx 30 to 50 Million years ago and they are now extinct, not to be found anywhere today. Fossil insects are rarely in perfect condition, because they struggled to get free of the tree sap, often losing legs or antennae, etc. Very rarely are insects in perfect location, position and form in genuine amber.

A hot needle can be touched to the piece and a pine smell should be detected. A plastic smell is a bad sign. Amber can be rubbed between your fingers and the same wonderful pine scent will be detectable. Baltic Sea amber is well known for this.

Amber free from inclusions will float in salt water and sink in fresh water.

Amber will fluoresce under UV light, to various extents, depending on the amber, and this is a good test as well. Under UV light, Borneo is especially beautiful when it fluoresces.

Amber is a passion of mine, I’m an amateur and not formally degreed in amber, other than my years of experience. Customers can always contact me for any reason they are unhappy with their buy.
