Polly and Her Pals 1932 Black Americana Cartoon MONEY 2








Description: Here is an EXTREMELY rare item. In the 1930s, the Sunday newspapers included play money that kids could cut out and use for play.

You are invited to bid on 2 pieces of money with art from the Polly and her Pals series by Chic Young who went on to create the Blondie series. Various parts of Sunday funnies are displayed on reverse.

This is these pieces depict Black Americana as sadly seen in the early 1930s, at least by Mr. Young and much of his audience.

Money measures about 4.5 by 2 inches.

Condition: Remarkable condition. A little tanning from age is about it.

 

Please note: I have many pieces of this money from the 1930s, some from very obscure comics (e.g., Mush & Sergeant Banner) and others from very popular and famous ones (Popeye, Mickey Mouse). I plan to list this money throughout the rest of July, so  suggest you visit My eBay Store.

 Added 7/16 - on the back of this set each pieces has a large panel related to and with a signed diary entry from Buddy Deering, who was a friend of and precursor in the comics to Buck Rogers. Send me an email with your email address and I can send you a scan of the back.
