This is the 61-key keyboard version of Dave Smith Instruments PK4 Poly Evolver synth with a one-button-per-function layout. Controls include 78 knobs, 58 switches, backlit wheels, and blinking LFO and blue sequence LEDs. As in the rack version, each voice has 2 analog and 2 digital oscillators. The analog oscillators offer multiple waveshapes with voltage-controlled analog pulse-width modulation, hard syncing, real voltage-controlled lowpass filters, and VCAs on each channel. The digital oscillators select from 96 Prophet-VS and 32 user-loadable (via MIDI) wavetables and have FM and ring modulators. As with original VS, the digital oscillators get trashy as the frequency gets higher.
Other tools and features include a separate glide per oscillator, dual digital 4-pole highpass filters that can be placed before or after the analog electronics, stereo audio inputs, a noise generator, envelope follower and peak detect from the external input for use as a modulation source, 3 snappy ADSRs, and 4 LFOs that are sequencer- and MIDI-syncable.
Additional features of this synth include dual tunable feedback loops, delay with 3 taps, digital distortion, 3 banks of 128 programs for 384 total, a 16 x 4 analog-style sequencer that syncs with MIDI, and extensive modulation options.
Dave Smith Instruments includes a free standalone editor with the PK4 Poly Evolverthat will run on both a PC and a Mac enabling you to edit both programs and combos quickly and easily.

Evolver Editor/Librarian Software
The Evolver Editor/Librarian from Soundtower is the perfect companion to your Evolver or Mono Evolver Keyboard. (There's also a version for the Poly Evolvers.) Available for Windows or Mac, the editor lets you see and edit every parameter. Build and organize banks of programs. Use the graphic interface to create new sequences.
In addition to the main parameter views, there are edit windows for bank views, wavetable editing, two different sequence editors, and a very cool random program generator that includes some interesting genetic program generators.
To see more screen captures and download the latest demo version of the software, visit the Soundtower Web site. The demo version allows you to get a closer look at all the screens, and edit a handful of parameters. If you like what you see, buy the registration code (only US$49.00) from our online store to access the full version.

========================
The most exciting synthesizer in the last 20 years, made by the same designer who made the Prophet 5, Prophet VS, and the Wavestation. In many ways this IS a four-voice Prophet 5, but with many, many extra features: two STABLE real analog oscillators, two digital oscillators with all the waveforms of the Prophet VS, highpass filters in addition to the real analog lowpass filters, built-in delay and multiple feedback and distortion effects, a quality velocity- and pressure-sensitive keyboard, on and on. The sequencer is amazingly powerful since it can trigger voice/program events, not just notes. As you hold down a chord, some of the sounds play sequences that add no new notes to what you're playing, but create all kinds of evolving animation to the sound. Incredible. This is a no reserve auction, so someone will win this keyboard.
The sound itself is out of this world. There's a reason why Prophets hold their value, and people still use them all over the industry--the sounds this thing makes are unlike any other synth I've ever heard. All the fatness of real analog (because it is), and all the complexity of digital, in any proportion you like. The warmth of vintage polysynths plus gritty or glassy wavesequencing means that this synth is incredibly versatile, but has a totally unique character. I hate to see it go. Check out these reviews.
