Pool O-ring & Seal Kit Polaris Booster Pump (cleaner)

Repair kit for the Polaris Booster pump. If your pump is dripping, you can have damage to your motor and pump impellers, This can result in Service Calls.

Kit includes:

• P55 Shaft Seal
• P40 Shaft O-ring
• P95 Bracket O-ring

Basic install in response to customer question:

The booster pump has a front piece, called the Volute, it has 6 bolts that hold it in place. Remove those bolts, then remove the Bracket O-ring.
You are now looking at the impeller, which is a round wheel that moves the water.
(now go to the opposite end of the impeller to the back of the motor.)In the back of the motor, there is a small round plate that needs to be popped off by a small flat edge screwdiver. You will find a place for a large screw diver. (Some pumps do not have a screwdiver slot, but a place in the back for an open end wrench).
It is better with 2 people, but hold shaft and turn impeller counter clock wise.
Sometmes they come right off, sometimes it is a job. On a few badly rusted pumps, I have had to "break" off the impeller, which means impeller replacement.
Once the impeller is off, you will see a ceramic seal on the impeller. Make sure surface is clean, use sandpaper if neccasary, replace ceramic part. (Do not touch white part with your fingers or add any grease,etc.)
The spring part of the seal is in the Pump bracket, Carefully use needle nose pliers, small screwdriver, remove the old spring.
If you can't get the spring out, remove the 4 small bolts attached to the bracket & motor.
Then tap seal out from the back side.
Clean hole in bracket. Check keyed on threads for rust/dirt and clean. I try to not remove the keyed on threaded shaft, but if you do, spray paint on the shaft, which will let you know how far to replace on the shaft. Spray threads with WD-40.
Replace the spring seal in the bracket. I usually use a 1" PVC coupler to tap it in (it must be straight and properly recessed).
Replace impeller on shaft, hand tighten, while holding the back of the shaft (As you removed).
Replace O-ring/Volute, and kick pump on for a 5-10 second run. Any noise? If it doesn't sound right, then the keyed shaft may not be properly adjusted.Adjust by loosening allen screws. Email me or give me a call with any questions.
