You are bidding on a Spread Eagle Post Office Box Bank. It has a patent date of Jan. 26th 1892. It has another design patent date of Jan. 1st 1895. This Door has a beautiful patina which I couldn't get to show up very good in the picture. It is super clean inside and out. It comes with two keys. The box has a brass coin slot on top that reads "Made From Original United States Post Office Lockboxes." This is door #87.
The box is made of oak. A coat of wood conditioner is applied followed by a coat of golden oak stain. It is finished with 4 coats of Minwax polyurethane clear satin inside and out. Four felt "feet" on the bottom prevents scratching of furniture.
