Old Growth Wood
Barns - Cabins - Factories - Buildings
Picture this stunning historical structure re-erected on your homestead! It is incredible to see how hard our forefathers worked at constructing these intricately crafted and timelessly sturdy buildings. Our featured image is just one example of the beautiful design you can create from scratch with one of our tried-and-true timber frame structures. The need for affordable housing in this country increases daily, as well as the desire to "go green" and make ecological choices... why not recycle a strong, beautiful, sturdy building like this as an exciting and unique housing alternative? We can build a "green" house using a reclaimed timber framed post-and-beam barn as your home -- and we can do it for less money than you would pay for "new" construction. Not only are the materials time-strengthened, but the exposed beams and hand-hewn wood displays the character and history of its original era.
We are currently featuring this "Benedict Timber Frame" structure -- it is a hand-hewn, Amish-origin, pre-Civil War timber framed structure, complete with all 5 bents. It is constructed from 7.5" x 12" hand-hewn Oak members; the delicate love and skill used in the hewing of these posts and beams is obvious at first glance. The outer dimensions of the building measure 35' x 45' with side walls measuring 18' tall up to an astounding 30+ feet at the center ridge! The bottom floor boasts 1,575 square feet, plus an additional 775 square feet for the top floor, which exists in one-half of the structure. Picture this: your main great room can have a stunning 30-foot ceiling, and the split section could have a downstairs 10-foot ceiling leaving room for a soaring 20-foot upstairs ceiling! The roof system is known as a "queen-post roof system" -- it is engineered so that those commonly-seen big obtrusive support beams throughout the ceiling/roof are not needed. This incredibly safe and well-crafted roof system is included in the listing price, as well as the beautiful raftering system. Also included are the mortis-and-tenon jointery, the bracing, and the pegs for pegging. All components of this structure have been treated for infestation, cleaned, and clearly labeled and identified. We do offer erection services for an additional fee; engineering and architectural services are also available.
Once you've got this absolutely stunning structure erected and in position on your homestead, you get to custom-craft its design to your tastes and specifications... why not use our gorgeous, affordable, eco-conscious wood products! We would love to negotiate a package deal for all of your flooring, paneling, ceiling, countertop, and furniture needs! The purpose of our business is to sell beautiful, strong, old wood -- not pre-made or pre-designed -- we handcraft each board and plank to your unique specifications. It's a perfect match!
We do have other timber frame structures available! If you find that the above specifications of the Benedict Timber Frame don't fit your needs, call for more information about the following:
(A) one 24' x 38' timber frame barn;
(B) one 30' x 36' timber frame barn;
(C) one 40' x 60' timber frame barn (could be expanded to 50' x 60').
The above buildings are also of Amish origin and in spectacular antique condition... like the listed Benedict Timber Frame, each of the above structures date back to pre-Civil War!
