This auction is for a Vintage Whitefriars Ribbed AMBER Decanter with 2 Ribbed Glasses. The decanter and both glasses are in excellent condition with no chips, or repairs. The decanter measures approximately 7 1/4 inches tall with the stopper in place ( 5 1/2 inches to the rim of the body) and measures approximately 2 1/2 inches across the base. The 2 glasses measure approximately 4 1/2 inches in height and 2 7/8 inches across the rim.
A great little set for romantic drinks for TWO.
I don't know when this decanter was first introduced, but it is shown in James Powell & Sons (Whitefriars) Ltd. 1931 Catalogue as model or item number 1460, but with a leaf shaped stopper - this decanter was also available in Flint and Sea Green; however, by the 1938 Catalogue the leaf stopper had been replaced with a hollow flat topped stopper (see page 72 of this Catalogue), however, it appears there may have been another stopper shape available - being this hollow round one, but possibly only on this smaller decanter (I believe this is an original stopper - it fits tight and flush just as it should). Both the larger and smaller decanter appear to have been dropped from the 1940 Catalogue. The Glasses were shown in the 1931 Catalogue as part of a set with a model number of 1464, but appear to have been discontinued by the 1938 Catalogue. Both the Decanter and glasses were originally offered with either smooth or ribbed sides - these are the ribbed style.

We accept Cashier/Certified check, Money Orders, or Paypal. Canadian residents must pay GST / HST sales tax – BC buyers must also pay PST - all other buyers are exempt these taxes. Although recommended, quotes for shipping will not include insurance unless requested.
