IMPRESSIVELY SIZED LARGE POTTERY HEAD OF A MALE DIGNITARY

This very large head features naturalistic features; the chin juts up and out facilitating the large open mouth & tongue.  The tongue extends out of the mouth curling down over lower lip.  A wide very naturalistic nose features flared nostrils. The eyebrows are arched and the eyes are mask-like poerforated.  At the forehead is a wide headband with black bitumen alternating squares.  The ears feature large piercings.

Around the mouth is black bitumen painted with an unusual scallop border.

Hollow hand formed light brown pottery Head.  Intact as pictured--likely from a very large full figure.
