Finally, the book ends with World War II, when war embraced the technology of mass annihilation and the horse soldier passed into the annals of military history.
Chapters between cover the War of 1812, the taming of the Western frontier, the Indian wars, the Mexican War, the American Civil War, the Spanish-American War, skirmishes in other countries such as China and the Philippines, the Great War, and more.
