Description:

A unique example of primitive lighting to add to your collection. This is an old cast iron grease lamp designed to stand on a table, mantle, or shelf. The top reservoir would be filled with grease (or fat) and then burned for illumination. Below that is a drip tray that would catch any "overflow". We are uncertain of it's age or region of origin.

 

Dimensions:

It's base is 5" in diameter. It stands 9 1/4" high.

 

Condition:

As expected of an early iron piece, there is some surface wear and rust. We found one hairline in it's base as well as the top reservoir.
Great natural patina throughout.
