~Santa Make-Do~


Welcome to my auction for this Santa Make-Do. He stands 15 and 1/2" inches tall. His round head is made of painted, aged muslin.



This Santa has such an expressive face. I needle-sculpted his nose. His grey eyes, lips and brows are done with artists' pencils. I added lots of shading, highlighting and blushing to give this St. Nick his whimsical expression.

Santa's beard, mustache and hair is white wool that I carefully hand-stitched in place.



Santa's hood is made of wool felt that is aged and lightly glittered. I added a doubled band of cream felt around the hood and also a red and white ribbon trim. It says ~HO HO HO~.



Tucked into the ribbon trim is preserved pine, holly with berries and three small candy canes. Tied to the tip of his hood is a rusty metal snowflake that is covered with diamond dust and mica flakes.







I secured the Santa to a heavy candlestick I picked up recently at a thrift store. It's probably brass but has a worn silvery finish. Santa's hood has been carefully gathered around his head and knotted around the candlestick. The ribbon trim neatly covers the knot.







Tied around the candlestick, and hanging to the back of the Santa, is an aged and glass-glittered tag stamped with a group of primitive Santas and the word~Santa~. I signed and dated the back of the tag.



This Santa is a Tallowberry Primitives Original.
This piece would be wonderful to decorate with. It could be set in the middle of a wreath, tucked in a cupboard with greens and berries or other Santas in your collection. It also would make a perfect gift for any Santa collector.
