This auction is for a Unique one of a kind piece I picked up years ago. Purchased from a Lancaster County Pa Antiques Dealer over 20 years ago. It was said to be out of an old country store locally here in Lancaster County Pa Area and was used as a display piece with glass front and sides like a corner cupboard but has a flat back and one large flat glass door on top and a small little hatch door on the bottom. I will be taking some better photos - I currently have it filled with a yelloware collection- not included with the cupboard. It appears to be hand made from wainscotting and some wide boards odds and ends trimwork- some pieces of trim and hardware seem to be missing- see photo. Some hardware looks victorian some other hardware appears to be from around 1900-1930's era. I am guessing this was built by someone around or after the Depression Era for a specific use in the store.....perhaps the store keeper or local furniture or craftsman. It is different and useful. I used to use it in my Antique Shop as a display piece to hold Country Store Antiques such as Antique Childrens Toys. It blended in nicely with my Country store Decor. I have since sold my shop and have moved out of all of my retail spaces - I used it for display there too but now I need to downsize. The measurements of the Unit are 40" wide back 27" wide front 66 " tall and 18 " deep. It has a bottom shelf and two upper shelves. The back is solid wainscott as well as the sides. I took the top off- still have it- will get picture of that when I get around to it- it is just a slab of wood in the shape of the piece. I had removed it to get the cabinet in my vehicle. I will provide any further pictures you need. or answer any questions so email me if you have any. |
