Early
Painted Primitive Cabinet
This delightful piece is fresh out of the original 1800's homestead. We have a couple
hundred items or more to auction off over the next month as we continue
to empty the out the storage building. I guarantee we're going to dig
out some really nice and unusual stuff along with some other primitives.
I will say without boasting one bit that this is one of my top favorite primitive pieces I've seen in my life. Great mustard yellow, which is a most desirable color of the early enamels for any kitchen painted primitive. Great bold character. Great one of a kind size and shape; the top lid storage bin and the single door without a base threshold. Just enough damage to the feet to remain personality but not excessive of enough to hurt the piece. I have trimmed feet on furniture like a surgeon to level a unit, but this piece deserves to be left alone or trimmed only at the new owners discretion. No damage or repairs that would not be indigenous to an item of this nature or accepted wear. The rear leg on the right you can see a short sliver off the back in picture No. 4. There are some puncture holes in the front of the lid also seen in the close up photo.
The whole unit is firm as stone and the four door hinges function perfect. The paint is crazed and worn but very intact as it should be. Not the flaky, pealing, or the about to fall off kind that is hard to save. You will not be disappointed in this prize and it will grow on you immediately when you see it in person.
I will not be surprised at all what the piece will bring. It's one of those once in a lifetime finds. Washstand, potato bin, whatever you want it to be. I'm realize that those who are in the know are aware this is the real deal and not some new reproduction attempt, but I do want to clarify by guaranteeing this cabinet to be over a hundred years old; a true survivor.
It measures 35" tall x 26" wide x 13" deep
We
are honest and easy going about selling here on Ebay and expect the
same courtesy from the sellers we buy from on Ebay as you would also
want yourself. We have sold many other items on Ebay in the past and
treat each person and transaction with the same respect as the last. If
you have any requests, just ask; we will be glad to help you out. Our
past experience and track record for safe packaging and delivery
of sold items is excellent. We are very thorough and careful at
packing. We do apply shipping insurance on every package to protect the
item, you, and ourselves as the seller. The insurance cost is already
included in the flat shipping rate given which is for the lower 48
states only. We can ship this through a carrier of your choice, but I feel best shipping this through Greyhound. They hand
load on and off the bus for safety and they are very reasonable. I will bullet proof package with foam rubber
materials that will keep from buffing and surround the cabinet with a
thick foam board in the end. You will need to pick up at your nearest
Greyhound station. We are not here to make extra $ off shipping and
will charge exact shipping cost if you request us to ship to other
countries.

The nails used to make this cabinet were not
manufactured and are of Irregular shapes and square. Not, round
manufactured nails. There are two very old nails on the upper sides that look
like they were driven in to hold the unit against the wall. I'm a
perfectionist and I can pull them but I thought it best to let the new
owner do as they prefer. There may be a few new, and by new I mean 50
years plus ago, nails put in the back panels and even they look a
little irregular and not round. It is easy to tell where the maker
drove the blacksmith looking nails. 3 horizontal rows down the side and
in the front hitting the shelving on the interior. As I mentioned in
the listing, The piece is rock solid; the joints are tight and firm
with no separation.

We
just noticed this morning that a zero feedback bidder is bidding on the
auction. I apologize to the honest bids for that. To the Zero, if your bid is trustworthy, read on.
We will permanently block ID's and cancel any bids from those with a feedback of ( 7 ) or less on
this item unless you contact us and notify of your interest and bidding
intentions beforehand. We are in no way attempting to offend anyone. Every last
one of us Ebay buyers started out with Zero feedback and each deserves the same
respect they received at that starting point. If someone is a low
feedback bidder with genuine intentions they will have read this in
the description and won't have to worry about having a valid bid
being canceled by accident anyway.
We have sold many items under 20 bucks and several in the thousands. Obviously Its the larger dollar auction that seems to bother people the most by this matter. Last Sunday evening we sold a Victrola to a couple in Ohio through an ebay no reserve auction. Bidders were concerned by a fellow in CA who was a pretty serious bidder but his bidder ID and over 2000 Feedback score was private. If you want to look search that item up it sold for about $2375 I think. The last couple comments in the question and answer section was good food for thought.
We will not regulate or
interfere with the auction bidding in any way. We will not be having a friend bid up the price, bid on the item ourselves, set a reserve
amount, or end the listing early for any reason such as accepting a buy it now price from an ebayer or sell the item outright to anyone else local during the auction. This item is sitting in the house, not in some retail store. This
auction will run its course right to the end.
We are just like you and hate when an
auction item we are interested in does not run till the end or is questionable and ends up not being a true
absolute auction.
Here's the bottom line. We just want a
pure unadulterated,
straight up legitimate,
absolute no reserve,
" FUN! " auction.

I have just hung up the phone with the zero feedback bidder from Michigan and have removed them from the blocked list. Assuring us of their bidding intentions, we found them to be very professional, courteous, and trustworthy. Thank you Carrol.
Out of the 70 items we're running this week there have been other ebayers with very low feedback who have e-mailed interest in an auction. Anyone else who would like a phone call please feel free to e-mail us.
uction. I apologize to the honest bids for that. To the Zero, if your bid is trustworthy, read on.
