Prince's O3 Silver Racquet
Back
in the mid seventies Howard Head and his fledgling company, Prince ,
defied convention with the introduction of their oversized racquet. Since
then Prince has been at the reigns of just about every innovation in the
industry, and it looks like they're not afraid to do it again with their
new O3 SQUASH racquet. The big idea: oversized "O-Ports" in the frame
increase the sweet spot by strengthening the frame and exaggerating the
overall flex of the racquet. The result is a fifty four percent larger
sweet spot without increasing the size of the racquet.
Also present in the O3 is Prince's trademark Tungsten Triple Threat Technology
where woven titanium, copper and carbon are placed in the 10 o'clock position,
2 o'clock position and in the bottom of the handle. This also adds to
the O3's enlarged sweet spot, amazing stability and near perfect balance.
Looks great on paper, but is the O3 really A-1 or 4-F? Prince definitely
gets top marks on this one. We tested an oversized O3 Silver model with
a #3 grip and were floored by what we found. The first thing I noticed
was how light and responsive the O3 was. Able to handle the fastest serves,
this racquet performs well at both the baseline and the net. Control with
the O3 was phenomenal, slices had plenty of bite and topspin came easily.
Overall, the O3 Silver is a strong all-court racquet. Shots reacted cleanly
and predictably; you actually do feel a bit more in touch with the ball.
bottom line is the O3 from Prince SQUASH is the ideal racquet for both
rookies and ringers. Beginners will love the forgiveness; experienced
players will love the power and control. Prince has undoubtedly raised
the bar once again on racquet quality and construction. RETAIL $200.00
