Mexico: Cholula Puebla : Note card
Time-Less-Image is proud to offer our collection of Christmas, Note cards and Prints. This piece, "Cholula Sweet Tooth", was taken during 2005 in Cholual, Mexico. The image began as a photograph and was enhanced digitally, using Corel Painter, the world's leading natural media painting application and Photoshop. This image was designed with digital tools to replicate the appearance and texture of pen, ink and watercolor.
In 16'th and 17'th centuries the convents of Puebla were true factories where the nuns competed to offer to Puebla society the best candies and cakes. The sweets were prized for their originality of forms and presentation. They combined the native prescriptions and ingredients with the recipes brought to Mexico by the Spaniards.
Though some Mexican mercados have stalls specializing in sweets, more typically confections in the mercado area are sold from sidewalk vendors. Maybe a little table will be set up at a street corner, or perhaps a boy will be circulating with a tray of goodies strapped around his neck. As with tamales and breads, many sweets are made in only a small region, so when you enter the mercado area of a city new to you, be sure to be on the lookout for local specialties.
The process I employ in the computer darkroom does not involve heavy plates, long exposure times, nor toxic chemicals. However, as with the early pioneers, the final image is a function of light, tone and composition. Relieved of the dangers associated with the original process, I can only hope to some day master a technique that "mirrors the truth". At Time Less Image we continue to seek exquisite beauty in our images, exploring all techniques, old and new.
Our objective at Time Less Image is to offer the public unique, affordable & original fine art note cards and prints. Initially the collection will consist of original photographs and digital graphic art. In the future we anticipate offering original and reproductions from natural media such as Etchings.
Sincerely,
Jack Egan
