The public medal (further – a medal) «In memory of service on frontier» is the non-governmental public award founded by the Commission on rewarding by public awards and memorable signs. The medal «In memory of service on frontier» is handed over: to employees of boundary bodies of FSB of Russia from among military men and persons of the civil personnel; to the veterans serving in boundary bodies of FSB of Russia, frontier troops of the Federal frontier service of the Russian Federation and frontier troops of KGB of the USSR; to the persons promoting in protection of frontier, a professional training for the boundary bodies, taking active part in military-patriotic education of young employees of boundary bodies; to other persons assisting in the decision of problems, FSB of Russia put before boundary bodies

The medal «In memory of service on frontier» can be handed over the organisations (legal bodies), for the contribution to the decision of the problems put before boundary bodies of FSB of Russia. The right of delivery of a medal «In memory of service on frontier» is given: to the Chairman of the Commission on rewarding by public awards and memorable signs; to Chiefs of boundary bodies of FSB of Russia; to Heads of the enterprises and the organisations of the defensive industry; to Heads of the veteran organisations and associations, after representation and the coordination, when due hereunder, demands. Manufacturing of medals and certificates to them is made at the expense of off-budget and sponsor's means.
