This pattern booklet, Purses, is one of a series of the Marla Richard Designs for Board Knitting collection. It includes complete instructions for creating the 3 purses shown here on a knitting board. Whether you want to make them for yourself or for others, here is a great pattern that will have you producing a favorite purse for every season in no time.

The booklet gives complete step by step instructions for creating three different purses on a knitting board.  One of the purses is knitted with a buttonhole tab closure. The other two purses are felted after knitting. Felting creates a sturdy fabric that no longer looks like a knit. One of the felted purses is personalized with a monogram.  This could be any monogram, in any style, or any design you choose. The booklet includes detailed instructions for creating these purses from casting on to binding off. It includes instructions for felting the purses after knitting as well as how to needle felt your initials or desired design on the purse.  It also includes an illustrated Stitch Library section that covers all the knitting board stitches and special techniques found in these purses.  So, whether you are an experienced board knitter or using one for the first time, you too can create your own collection of purses.

If you are new to knitting boards, they are a fun and extremely easy way to knit without needles. No prior knowledge of knitting or crocheting is required before you are making afghans, sweaters, rugs, scarves, purses (like the ones shown here), etc. Easy enough for a child to do – and many children love using them. You can knit using both sides, called double knitting, or just using one side. 

Note, if you are using one of the knitting boards made by us (see below), the felted purses can be made on either size. The knitted purse requires the 34" board.
