Queen of Hearts by Shelby Robertson !! This is an incredible pencil piece titled Queen of Hearts. Here's Robertson's bio from his website at American Discord "Shelby Robertson has been creating, drawing, painting, composing, and writing his whole life. Initially gaining his first break into commercial art with landing a full time gig with British Aeronautics Journal. His jobs ranged from AutoCAD proposed mechanical designs, to watercolor paintings and illustrations conveying multiple investors groups intentions with blimp production, general aeornautical gear, and warehousing for vendors. That stint lasted a full year, then in 1994, Shelby got his first big break in the Graphic Novel field being hired by Rob Liefeld at Extreme Studios (defunct) of Image Comics/Maximum Press. Shelby's first Pin-Up viewed by Liefeld in sample form became the first published piece by the artist. Shelby made the move to Anaheim, working in the 'bullpen' on projects such as ghosting backgrounds, small panel finishes, layouts for others, then onto his own serialized tales for Crypt, Badrock, and Black Flag. Multiple projects were handled for Rob Liefeld's other publishing icon Maximum Press; a handful cancelled due to financial and pre-order strains of the publisher. Hundreds of both published and unpublished pin-up material was created leading to even more story development artwork and a few more serialized tales. Soon after leaving Image Comics in Anaheim, Shelby ventured to the freelance market being picked up by Malibu on a short run of Prime which was ultimately cancelled due to Marvel Comics immediate purchase of the West Coast franchise, its properties, and it's immediate shut down of West Coast operations. Around this time, Shelby started to shop around a few indie projects beginning with Fem 5 later published through Entity; leading to his ultimate work on the Stargate franchise. About a year later, signing a multi year deal with London Night Studios. Both pencilling and creating characters for series Razor, Morbid Angel, Knightshift, and Poison, he quickly found himself with too much work being thrown his way to produce. A handful of art assignments handed off to American Dischord friend, fellow in-house artist Warmonger [War]. Projects for LNS included chromium trading card artworks, variant covers, plot writing chores, and limited series developments. At the end of contract, Shelby once again looked to independent publishing houses to promote and purchase rights to his creations, stories, and freelance availability. Since that time, Shelby and War both have worked on hundreds of projects for an equal number of independent companies and individuals, from covers, to pin-ups, and back to trading cards. Past clientelle include Lou Ferrigno [Incredible Hulk actor of the '80's, Samson], Chris Weber [former NBA Golden State Warrior forward], and Glenn Danzig [former Misfits Done on standard comic board measuring approximately 11" X 17" & is Mint/NM.
