In 1664, the icon was kept in the Dokheiariou Monastery where a man would pass it with carrying a smoky torch going through the kitchen to the refectory.  One day  he heard a voice telling him not to pass that way again with the torch because he was "carelessly blackening my image."  He ignored the voice because he thought someone was playing a joke on him, but the next time he passed, he heard the voice again and went blind.  He soon repented and the icon spoke again telling him of how the Mother of God was "quick to hear" prayers.  Our icon is a very high quality print that is inlaid to the tempered hardboard.  Gold and silver foils are used during the printing process.  The icon originated from the province of Moscow, Russia and is blessed by the church.
