Quillion dagger historic reproduction of museum find
This is a copy of a 13-14 C quillion dagger. The original was found in the Thames and sold via the museum of London (it is in my possession). I had the original copied in India. It is just over 12" long with a 1095 carbon steel blade and brass finishings, leather sheath. The finish is a little rough but sound. The blade is of triangular cross section, unsharpened. The blade has a very heavy tang, and is hand forged. Quite serviceable and heat treated. The wood handle is flat on one side (as the original) and fits very nicely in a boot or along the thigh. This is a unique piece that, with a little hand finishing will make a fine addition to any costume or collection. (The original is in the top photo to the right)
