What we have for auction this week brought to you by the Grand Antique Mall in Cincinnati, Ohio is this Antique Handmade Quilt. Fabrics used are from the 1880's - feed sacks, ticking and shirts. Dated 1934 (see photo).
Quilt has NEVER been used - never even been on a bed. It has never been laundered or dry cleaned. PRISTINE original condition. The stains shown on the back of the quilt are storage stains only.
You can see part of the back of the quilt was made from a dairy feed sack. This is more visible in person. Cream colored overall with blue, pink, red, green, multi-prints. Feed/seed sacks and shirts are part of the materials used to make the quilt. The shirt and ticking pieces date back to the 1880's. The colors - blue - green and red are bright colors. Very good workmanship - averages 8 - 9 stitches per inch.
Overall size 67" wide x 80" long.
We had an inividual whom is an expert in quilting and she told us this was an excellent example of a quilt in pristine - unused condition.
It's exceedingly rare to find a quilt of this age with NO USAGE - a real great find for any collector of original condition and rare quilts.
