ITEM: Up for auction is a Very Rare c1920 Cartier Paris 18k Gold and Black Enamel Traveling Note Pad Case with Gold Pencil. The Case is part of a Large Collection of Fine Estate Jewellery up for auction as you can see in the last picture.
The Case is of Fine Cartier Quality throughout. I believe the Case is a Very Rare find, never seeing another Cartier example like it. The Case does have light marks and scratches throughout, but for its age is in nice original condition with no enamel loss or repairs. The Gold Pencil which is also used to keep the Case Closed has some small dints to the top, but is overall in good original condition, and works nicely. The Case measures 3 1/8 inches long, by 2 1/2 inches wide, and the Pencil measures 2 3/4 inches long. The Case is Signed "Cartier Paris, Made in France". The Case has 2 very small French Hallmarks on both sides. The Interior of the Case is White and I believe it would either be Sterling, White Gold, or knowing Cartier could even be Platinum, which was commonly used at the period. I have tested the outside of the Case which tests to be as least 18k Solid Gold. The Case has a Fine Quality weight of 82 grams, and I believe at least half this weight would be 18k Solid Gold. I am sure the Case is worth a Substantial amount just in melted gold alone at today's high gold prices. However I am hoping the Cartier Case is worth more than just its Melted Gold Value, and is would be a shame to see such a piece destroyed.
I have heard at the Higher end sales Cartier Deco period examples like this can bring some Amazingly High amounts, and I am sure the Case is also a Fine investment piece. I believe it may be some time before you see another Great Cartier Deco Period example like this up for auction, and starting low with No Reserve!
As usual we always start all our items nice and low, and have Never had a Reserve on one item..Ever! Just like a Real auction should be! The Very Fine and Rare c1920 Cartier Paris 18k Gold and Black Enamel Traveling Note Pad Case would make a great addition to any collection, and would also make a Fabulous Gift.
