RARE Ancient 17" Ban Chaing Pottery Pot 3000-1500 BC

Description

     These pots generate a lot of excitement! They are beautiful works of art and according to testing from the University of Pennsylvania, these pots are some of the earliest painted pottery known to man.  These are early for Bronze Age vessels dating as far back as 4600 B.C. This piece is estimated to be between 3000 and 1500 B.C. based on its use of color and style.  They were created without the aid of a pottery wheel and show incredible artistry and ingenuity. Similar pots of this size sell for over a thousand dollars each, but we are offering it here in a true auction style to give everyone a chance at such a rare and exciting piece.

          This pot was acquired from one of the most extensive private collections of Ban Chiang works. It measures 17.00 inches x 14.00 inches with a 6.50 inch opening and weighs just under 8.0 pounds. It has beautiful detailed design work at the base of the rim and has been masterfully repaired. This piece has an incredible shape and stands on its own. Shipping will be Priority Mail and insurance and tracking is included.
