RARE 1882 CALIFORNIA FRACTIONAL GOLD BG-799CC PCGS MS63

1882 Quarter Dollar Octagonal Indian. Breen and Gillio-799CC. PCGS graded MS-63. Old Green Holder. Much nicer than the given MS63 grade.  This coin is unique as the only octagonal quarter dated 1882 and the only octagonal quarter by this maker and is considered the key of the Indian Head series.  The coin composition is gold plated on silver on copper.  Nice shades of rainbow golden toning with prooflike surfaces. Pop 7; Only 4 finer in 64. Rarity 6. Only 7 have sold at auction since 05/2004. A recent MS-63 PCGS example sold on Teletrade for $2,000.  Minted by Nast, Greenzweig & Co. of San Francisco, CA.
