Organon of The Rational Art of Healing
Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), was a German physician and the founder of Homeopathy. He first expounded his system in this work (1810). He practiced in Leipzig, and Paris and despite opposition, gained a large following.
Dr. Hahnemann's pioneering text is the foundation for all study in the field of Homeopathic medicine. Based on treating the whole patient rather than isolated symptoms, homeopathy uses minute doses of naturally derived medicine to stimulate the patient's own life force. Nineteenth century editions of this landmark text have become quite scarce.
This is the Fifth American edition, translated from the fifth German edition by C. Wesselhoeft. Fascinating book by the discoverer of Homeopathy. He postulates the existence of Viruses as well as bacteria without the scientific tools to grow or see them. Sadly when he wrote and worked, the tremendous discovery that simple cleanliness could stop many fatal diseases was not understood or accepted. Hahnemann wrote against some of the worst practices of medicine of the day and was an advocate of having drugs tested on males as well as females.

Condition: Very good +. In original brown cloth with gilt on spine, tooled boards and decorative end pages. There is bumping and light wear to the head and tail of spine and corners. There is a small worn spot on spine. Previous owner name on ffep (blank page) in beautiful script. Otherwise pages are unmarked. An excellent copy with strong hinges and binding. Obviously well taken care of.
