This is an offering of a scarce 1890's era Dresden, Germany embossed silver slipper made of cardboard.
These were pieces made for the Holiday tree and were sometimes also called a wedding slipper.
This slipper is done in a nice old silver tone that is an embossed cardboard with a decorative design on the front area of the shoe.
This shoe was made to be used as a holder for small treats or gifts as this shoe has the original thin satin or silk lining that is attached to the inner edges of the shoe and has a drawstring at the top to make a bag shaped holder. It is done in a light yellowish color and does have damage of several holes or tears which are from age as the fabric has just gotten old and deteoriated from age of over 100 years.
These are seldom found with the original lining as shown and this shoe is still in very nice shape.
This is the last shoe I own and if you are a collector of these old Dresden ornaments, don't let this one get away as these are seldom found.
The slipper measures about 5" long and has a short heel that makes the back about 2" high.
It is not marked but I do guarantee it is old as described.
These are shown in some of the various price guides of Dresden ornaments and are considered rather hard to find.
