Dr. R. V. Pierce is one of the staff of consulting physicians and surgeons at the Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute, and president of the World's Dispensary Medical Association. There are 1,008 numbered pages. Toward the end of the book are head shot photos of people who made testimonials for the book. There is also a full page picture of the "Invalids' Hotel" and several drawings of the lovely rooms.
The book is chock full of old fashioned remedies for all kinds of ailments.
A popular book in it's day and a precursor to today's home medical books. Advice of questionable accuracy on everything imaginable.
Some topics are biology, physiological anatomy, the brain, human temperments, ovulation, pregnancy, digestibility of food, cleanliness, natural remedies, apnea, hip-joint disease, catarrh, testimonials for Dr. Pierce's medicines, etc.

1008 pages, 8x5.5", gray cloth with gold/gilt on spine, rubbed, bumped, tears, fray, stains, bumped, etc, on spine, missing last page 1007/1008, damped stained pages and some folded from the moisture, webbing visible in the rear of book, primarily clean and pages seem tight.
