Hope you find something you can treasure. Pictures are worth 1,000 words, so we let our photos do the talking. Scroll down, there are lots of photos with details. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS LOCAL PICK UP ONLY... No shipping. RARE and LOVELY roaring Twenties portable BABY CRIB, orig paint, decals --SWEET DESCRIPTION: This unique antique baby crib is fully intact, puts together with pegs in holes that are then screwed in place, unscrew to take apart. Not without issues: being the original paint, much is worn, with that "shabby chic" look. The old springs that hold the mattress are rusty, and there is a metal band that stablizes the springs, which needs a new screw on one side. Also, on the headboard, where there is a lathed ball detail, it is a little wobbly, works as is, but best bet, would need securing. Original roll wheels are rusty, work, but would need cleaning. There are dealers who specialize in old household, childhood, and other home utilitarian antiques, so you might want to direct questions to them, because we don't know much else, other than it is from our old Yankee New England Maine family estate-- Since my mom was born in 1921, I suspect it was her crib. DIMENSIONS: appx 28" wide x 36" tall x 48" long CONDITION: Good condition considering its age, 80 years-ish. Original paint. some is worn, but the soft yellow color is still there. Scuffing, and a little dusty - grimy from storage. Could be repainted if someone was sensitive to painting around the decals. Or after a good cleaning, perhaps the whole could be done with clear finish treatment to seal the original paint. The original decals are just darling: Little cherub like baby, almost Kewpie like, with flowers that clearly show the art styling of the 20's. Still bright and colorful. Soft pastels. Original screws long missing, but easy to replace. One side is designed to go up and down, all the way to the floor, based on metal rods and friction. Needs a new mattress if someone is going to use it. Add lots of side crib bumpers, and can be used for a new infant to 3 months, who dont move much. We actually used it for our youngest son when he was teeny and didnt move much. The bars are spaced close enough never to allow a baby's head to go through. We loved it. We cannot advise using it for a babe today, though. Does not meet standards. But would be a cute Toy Box for babies room, a place to store infant or small child toys, or for a Doll Collector... to display dolls... Would also be a wonderful display item for a Baby Goods store.... fill it with stuffies & plushies for sale, or for hanging and displaying baby clothing. PAYMENT: We accept Paypal only.
