Vintage Philco Transitone Bakelite Tube Radio

Model TH-3

This is a beautiful 1938 Philco Tube Radio.

The radio does turn on and the fuses in the back light up.

I could not get it to play music, It just makes different squalling and humming noises.

I think it is because there is no antenna, but I am not an expert on radios so I do not know for sure

I am selling it as is. It does turn on and it does make noise!!!

The radio does show some wear which is normal for its age. There are a couple of snags in the fabric, but no rips. The plasic in front of the dial has a split and it looks like it has shrunk???

I'm not sure if it came with a back panel, but there is not one now.

Both dials work and like I said the fuses light up when turned on and it makes different noises.

I looked up a little info on this radio on the internet and this is what I found:

"MODEL TH-3

In contrast to the TH-1, the new TH-3 is a 39-6 chassis (the dial scale of which reads TRANSITONE instead of PHILCO), in a 38-12CB Bakelite cabinet.

Original selling price: $15.95
Number made: Not available"

This is a really nice little piece of history and would make a great addition to anyones collection.
