This is a rare newspaper tabloid called CHANGES, dated October 1972.  The format is similar to ROLLING STONE magazine, covering the pop culture of the times- music, movies, politics, and other topics of the day.   As this is a 36 year old newspaper, it's not really in the best of shape.  There's some yellow edges, some brittle corners, and 5 of the double-sided pages have major rips.  That being said, it looks like it's fully intact, without any missing pieces or extra markings from pen or pencil.   Folded for distribution, it measures 9" x 12".  Unfolded for reading, it's approximately 17" x 22."

The big topic of this issue is the NY FILM FESTIVAL.  Marlon Brando is on the cover, and there's an interview with Richard Roud, the founder of this New York institution, who created this in 1963.

David Bowie is the subject of a 2 page interview by Lenny Kaye, future founder of Nuggets, and guitar player for Patti Smith Band.

Lester Bangs reviews Kim Fowley's album entitled "I'm Bad," sandwiched between reviews for Sweet Pie and Labelle.

"Fanny- Sexism in Rock?" is an article by Laurel Dann.

One of my favorite parts of this issue is the section titled "New York: The Scene Makers," which is all about who saw who.  Monty Python's Flying Circus gets mentions, as does Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, New York Dolls, Todd Rundgren, Richard Metlzer, Al Kooper, and folks at Max's Kansas City.  Here's a scan from that section that includes a photo of a lovely lady named Jerry Miller, who was NOT a member of Moby Grape.   Yes, I did censor her naked nippleIf you buy the paper,  you'll be able see it.

What else is there?

A full page ad for Eric Anderson on Columbia Records and Tapes, as well as a full article by Ira Mayer.

A half page ad for "Art for McGovern."  I won't type up the names, but Andy Warhol was one of them..

"4 Painters" is an article by Diana Leder about artists Joan Thorne, Pat Steir, Stu Diamond and Jim Starrett.   Maybe you know these people?

Marilyn Wright reviews Dr. John Lilly's autobiography.

Joe Chaiken is interviewed by Peter Maloney, talking about Open Theater, Michaelangelo Antonioni, Zabriskie Point, and Henry David Thoreau.

A good photo of a cat on the toilet, encouraging folks to subscribe to CHANGES.

Vicki Richman writes an article about "Candy & Tennessee (Williams)".

Lots of film reviews - Fat City, Pope Joan, Deliverance, Wrath of God, Bluebeard, and others.

An interview with jazz legends Bill Evans and George Russell, courtesy of Sy Johnson.

Ed McCormack writes an article "Cosmic Carlo, Hairpower Company- Pioneer of the Fifties Look" is all about Carlo Manfredi.

"David Ackles: A National Treasure?" is an article by Beverly Magid.

T-Rex has a 3/4 page ad for "The Slider," sharing the page with an ad for waterbed sales at a store known as The Pleasure Chest.

A quarter page ad for Roberta Flack and Quincy Jones & Orchestra, appearing at Carnegie Hall.   Only $8 for the best seats!

... and more that I didn't write up...

Bear with me for any typos or mispellings in this description....  I tried to be comprehensive about this, as I figured someone out there would appreciate all these words that I've written.
