Rare 4 octave xylophone. Probably made by L.H. Street, an inlaw of the Leedy family. This is the opinion of Gilberto Serna (Century Mallet Company, Chicago),  the premier xylophone tuner in the country, who specializes in Deagan instruments. He recently retuned the bars to A =440, so this instrument is sounding its best and ready to play!

The bars are rosewood, from the 1930's era. You cannot get this wood anymore. They are in overall good condition. Bar width is 1 5/8". Thickness varies a little, between 7/8" and 1". Low C is 19 1/8" long. High C is 5 5/8" long. Frame length is 61". Height is 30 3/8". Not sure what the resonators are made of.  They are not magnetic. The frame does not collapse in half. It is very sturdy. It has a Deagan tag at one end, but, don't be fooled: these are not Deagan bars! There are no markings on the bars or model number on the frame.

This instrument does not sound as good as a Deagan. If that is what you want, do not bid! Still, it does have decent tone and a four octave range. The last 4 octave Deagan on ebay went for close to $4,000, so if you want a 4 octave instrument for a lot less, now is your chance! This is a no reserve auction, so buy it now is only good until the first bid is placed. If you want that option, you need to do it soon!
