RARE AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE VISTA DOLPHIN HANDLE
|
DescriptionRARE AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE VISTA DOLPHIN HANDLE
Name of Pattern: VISTA
Maker: Ridgways, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire England. 1880
This is a superb example of Victorian Aesthetic Movement Transferware. I have seen this described as a chocolate pot, a coffee pot but I think it is a hot water pot from a tea set - used to keep boiling hot water in to add to the tea leaves when the tea pot runs low and you want a few more cups of tea without making a new pot.
This is a fabulous design in a diamond shape with a dolphin handle to the lid and to the main body. Wonderful vistas of a woodland scene surrounded by oversize flowers and wild grasses which carry over on to the lid. A skein of wild geese or ducks fly through the scene. A fantastic piece which you will be sure to love, there is so much to see in this pattern, it truly earns its name of Vista. Dimensions are 8 3/4 ins to top of finial of lid, approx 3 1/2 ins square across base and width including spout and handle is approx 6 inches. Condition is very good for its age and form. A little tonal age crazing and two tight hairlines inside down from rim (do not extend to the exterior) do not detract from this wonderful example. Minor spot of glaze wear to pouring spout on one side. Handle and lid all good.

Payment
Payment due on receipt of invoice and within 7 days. Shipping by USPS including packing and delivery confirmation. Paypal is only payment type accepted from foreign buyers. Others may use Paypal, cashiers check, personal check or money order. PA residents must pay 6% sales tax unless furnishing current resale license number.
Shipping
Shipping is usually within 1 business day of receiving payment. I use USPS Priority,Parcel Post or 1st Class with delivery confirmation. International sales are by First Class International to Canada which will be the same price as the USA for jewelry items; for other larger items and elsewhere, please e mail for shipping charges.
Please note First Class International is the former air mail letter post which has no tracking or insurance available. I love my overseas buyers and so hate to say this but for items which sell for over $50, it is strongly recommended that you consider Priority Mail International which allows on line tracking and insurance. Priority Mail International is required for items which sell for over $75. This can mean shipping for jewelry items will range from about $20-$25.
A small charge of $1 to $2.50 may be made for packing materials particularly for ceramic and glass items. If it will be any more, this will be noted in the description.
Terms of Sale
I hate to say but please do not bid if you have 0 Feedback without contacting me first to arrange payment methods or your bid will be canceled due to non paying bidders. Otherwise, have fun!
Please note that antique ceramics will often have small in the making flaws such as minor kiln grit and transfer smudges due to the primitive nature of the wood fired kilns in which they were made and that no attempt is made to describe them. Acquired damage will, of course, be noted.
