RARE ANTIQUE BOOK ICELAND BY DISNEY LEITH ILLUSTRATIONS

VERY RARE ANTIQUE BOOK - ICELAND BY MRS. DISNEY LEITH - PUBLISHED IN LONDON, ENGLAND IN 1908 BY ADAM AND CHARLES BLACK - FULL COLORED ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR ILLUSTRATED PLATES

Purchased as part of a recent acquistion from an estate sale in Boston, Massachusetts where this extremely rare book had been carefully stored in family's estate attic for many years.  Rare authentic 1908 1st Edition printing.

Full title:  PEEPS AT MANY LANDS - ICELAND - By Mrs. Disney Leith with twelve water-colour illustrations by M. A. Wemyss and the Author.  London Adam and Charles Black, 1908.  

CONDITION:  Fair Condition with some expected age-yellowing to the pages.  Illustrations are in full color and all intact and original to the book.  The coverboard tips show some shelfwear and foxing.  Former library book with Nahant Public Library - Established 1819 stamp on front inner coverboard page.  Corners are bumped and rubbed, spine in aged condition, rubbing and chips to spine ends.  Stunning addition to any antique book collection. 

Missing the back coverboard and the last few pages have come loose from the spine.  All 70 pages are included, but the last few pages will need to be restored to the spine.  I have added several close-up pictures to the description below which shows several of the exquisite illustrations and overall condition of the book.  Additional pictures will be provided upon request.

Printed by Billing and Sons, LTD., Printers, Guildford.  Original bookseller stamp on inner cover page reads:  W. A. Butterfield Bookseller 59 Bromfield St., Boston, Massachusetts.
