Offered for your bidding consideration is this extremely rare and unusual Art Nouveau Art Deco handblown art glass vase executed by world renowned art glass artist Lundberg Studios of Davenport, California. James Lundberg started Lundberg Studios along with Mark Cantor in 1972 after closing Nouveau Glass in San Jose, California. Steve Lundberg came to work with Jim (along with Dave and Danny Salazar and others) in 1973. Jim was killed in 1996 while riding his bicycle along Hwy. 1 near the studio and Steve passed away last year after a courageous six year battle with ALS. The studio still continues to turn out remarkable pieces of glass using Jims formulas that he produced in the 1970s and 80s. This one of a kind vase was made during the first few months of the studios existence. I purchased this vase many years ago from a retired couple in Ohio. I was also able to secure one of Jimmie's "bubble" vases that he made in 1969 while a student at San Jose State University from this same couple. I took the bubble vase to the studio and had Jimmies widow Rebecca Lundberg authenticate the bubble vase. I did not take this vase but have no reason to believe that it is not one of the studios early works. It consists of a primarily dark blue multicolored glass with a bright red border surrounding a pulled and hooked feather pattern of brown glass. It measures 8" tall and 3 & 1/2" at it's widest point. It is properly signed "Lundberg 9/72". It is not completely symmetrical as the top is not completely round. It is in wonderful condition with no nicks, chips, cracks or repairs. This extremely rare and unusual vase comes out of my personal collection. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to acquire a truly early piece of art glass from one of America's premier art glass studios! Shipping insurance is required for all purchases. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions and please review my other auctions for more hard to find and unusual works of art by many other world renowned artists!
