RARE Antique Neoclassical Bronze / Brass Document Box

Description: This is a very rare large 13 inch casket / box. They were often referred to as glove boxes for highest of quality silk gloves or document boxes for those most important papers. It is exquisitely finished in a brilliant gold gild. It is absolutely breath takingly beautiful. This wonderful box is highly decorated on all sides with the most adorable repousse cherub or putti figures and fleur-de-lis. The box is heavy and solid, created from cast brass or bronze with a most decorative hinged lock, complete with key. The lining inside is a deep rich burgandy velvet. The bottom has an inscribed mark looks like a capital I or maybe the roman numeral 1.  Dating to around the late 1880's this highly decorative and rare, possibly one of a kind, as through endless research, I have yet to find one of this size and quality anywhere is in magnificent condition.
