This is for a most unusual nickle plated copper ware piece not often seen. It is a very elaborate and fancy pitcher with a hinged lid and hinged spout. The nickle plated pewter handle is of elaborate design as is the spout and knob. I would think this was likely made in the 1890's. It was designed to serve any cool beverage and Lemonade was a popular concoction around that time along with "Ice Water". It sounded SOoo cool in those pre air conditioned days in the summer. The body of this serving piece was made by the spinning method instead of the stamping method and is a sign of quality work. Notice the concentric lines on the bottom of the pot bear this out. The addition of the pewter mounts was another quality touch. Its general condition is very good. No dents breaks or worn through spots but there is some considerable fine scratches as one would expect to find and a bit of copper showing through on the bottom where wear has accumulated. However nothing obnoxious or evident and it is in amazingly good condition especially for it's age. The hinged lid is in alignment and works freely. The hinged spout cover is a bit harder to work but is also well aligned. The interior does have a lot of dark oxidation that I did not polish up. I discovered that you could use silver polish on this piece to remove any oxidized nickle and really makes it shine. I just did a bit on the outside so you may wont to use this method from time to time. Thanks for looking and Good Luck Shipping is 3 pounds Priority shipping with insurance included in shipping & handling (but that is all), and I will combine listings for postal savings for you on this piece. There ARE NO charges for packing and wrapping but are always just the postage & insurance the USPS charges. If I miss the weight it comes out of MY pocket not yours. People STILL keep hitting me down in on the shipping in feedback which is a mystery to me as I OFTEN ship Priority which is a bit more expensive but on fragile items much more likely to arrive in one piece. THESE COSTS ARE FOR YOUR PROTECTION! Please understand that. This item may weigh out as much as 15 ounces less than the indicated weight BUT the USPS rounds UP the weight to the greatest pound over that additional ounce. This is true whether Priority or Parcel Post - this is NOT my doing. I spend a lot on bubble wrap and am glad to offer it for FREE but am at a loss as to why I am being consistently down rated on the cost of the postage and handling which I have NO control over. |
