RARE Authentic Ancient Ban Chaing Pottery Vessel Vase I

 


Description

      These pots generate a lot of excitement! They are beautiful works of art and according to testing from the University of Pennsylvania, these pots are some of the earliest painted pottery known to man.  Some of the Early Bronze age pieces from this area date to 4600 B.C. These pots were created without the aid of a pottery wheel and show incredible artistry and ingenuity.

 

          This pot was acquired from one of the most extensive private collections of Ban Chiang works at an estate sale several years ago. It measures 6.5 inches x 5.5 inches with a 3.5 inch diameter opening at the top and weighs 2 pounds and 1.3 ounces. There a few chipped places on the rim (see photos). I have not seen a similar piece for sale on the internet for less than $800, but am offering this one in a true auction style listing with no reserve to give everyone a chance to own this amazing find.
