RARE BLACK CHALKWARE CAT FOR ZENITH STRATOSPHERE RADIO

This is a RARE Chalkware Cat that was used as a prop to highlight the large concave area in front of the grille on the famous Zenith Stratosphere Radio. The cat and the radio were not sold together as is the popular belief. It is made by Silvestri Bros. Co., and is 15” tall and 6” at its widest point. It is also a piggy bank, although it is empty and has not been used. I have seen similar cats but none in Black. So I would assume that the Black version is more rare. It is in excellent condition with one exception, the right ear has a piece that appears to be glued back in place (see picture). It is only visible when looking up close. If the cat was placed inside the radio it would not be noticeable. This is a very desirable item for anyone who owns a Zenith Stratosphere.
