Here come more horns from the man with the houseful: this one is a tarnished but solid Boston (one-star) cornet from about 1920. Before going through the shop, it had broken braces, separated tuning slide, stuck slides and valves, and a broken water key. All that has been repaired, and this cornet plays very well now. The tuning slide is a replacement, lacquered brass instead of the silverplated original. Shine this up and it will be a great player. The bore is .464, bell diameter is 4 3/8 inches. No dings or dents remain. Serial number is 24473; no case, but I'll include a Walt Smith Boston 1 mouthpiece mouthpiece. The owner has a reserve on this unusual and scarce horn.
