"The Art of Riding" by Hans Von Blixen-Finecke, J. A. Allen, London. 1977. Rare 1st Edition. Softcover. 120 pages. Very Good/Fine condition. The author of this equestrian classic was a renouned 3-day event rider/horseman in his native Sweden, as was his father before him. He was, as stated on the fep the " Individual & Team Gold Medalist of the Helsinki Olympic Games & Swedish National Three-Day Event Champion, eight times," who later coached olympians in England. This book was based on a series of articles he wrote for "The Light Horse" magazine in 1974-5. He writes in a very clear, straightforward manner about the thorough, basic training of both horse and rider.  Of further note, the author has a connection to Isac Dinesen, the author of "Out of Africa." She was in love with his father, also named Hans, and when Hans did not respond, she married his twin brother, Bror von Blixen-Finecke.This is an extremely RARE book.  Copies of this rare 1st edition are listed online starting at $88!
