RARE COCA-COLA 75TH ANNIV. HUTCHINSON BLOB BOTTLE 1961

You are bidding on a rare and unique collectible in the world of Coca-Cola bottles.  This is a green Hutchinson blob top bottle created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Coca-Cola Company for its Engineering Department at headquarters in Atlanta.  It was manufactured by the Chattanooga Glass Company and used as a memento by Company employees to give to attendees of a National Convention held in Miami Beach, Florida in 1961.  There are no chips or cracks anywhere on the bottle and the graphics are in absolute pristine condition.  The words "Coca-Cola" or "Coke" appear in the graphics on the bottle thirteen (13) times.  Across the top of the bottle are the words, "Development     Testing     Design     Research."   Across the bottom are the words, "Engineering Department     The Coca-Cola Company     Miami Beach, Florida, 1961 National Convention."  Brands represented on the bottle are Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Fanta.  Tab had not been rolled out at that time.  The graphics include the 75th anniversary emblem with 1886 and 1961 above the words Coca-Cola; a case of 24 bottles; a Coca-Cola Bottling Company building; fountain paper cups; a figal container; a bottle vending machine; a fountain vending machine; tools and equipment used by engineers, etc.  You will notice there is a Hutchinson bottle stopper inside the bottle.  The original stopper was invented by William H. Hutchinson, patent number 213,992, April 4, 1879.  In 1961 my husband was a 28 year old Georgia Tech graduate working in the Engineering Department of Coca-Cola at headquarters on North Avenue in Atlanta where they had a shop at that time.  He told me they reproduced the bottle stoppers by hand in that shop.  I have included a photo of an extra stopper, and as you can see they were, indeed, hand made based on the tool marks on the metal.  I have a total of three bottles plus one extra stopper, and no two stoppers are exactly alike.  However, this auction is for only one (1) bottle.  If you have the winning bid, or if you already own one of these bottles with a stopper, I caution you never attempt to pull the stopper out or push it in.  Doing so will very likely crack the blob top due to the rigidity of the 48 year old rubber.  Since the blob top cannot be closed off, there is a little bit of dust inside the bottle, and I will let the new owner decide what cleaning method to use.
