The caned high-back chairs are in good condition. Each chair has some nicks in the paint as expected for a painted set this age. The caning shows paint wear in spots and two of the chairs have a hole in the caning as shown. All of the chairs show light staining to the fabric but one of them has a heavier reddish stain. Only water has been used to attempt to remove it with no success. This is an old set in stain but perhaps the right chemical may lighten it a bit. Unfortunately, it is mostly unlikely it could be removed completely. The chairs as well as the table have beautiful deep and ornate carving and scroll work. While looking through you may see some darker areas in the grooves. This set has been in storage for some time and will need some detailed attention to carefully clean these areas. Ironically, the dirty areas actually bring out the depth of these patterns more than they would if it was all yellow. Each chair measures 20”W x 19”D x 42 1/2"T at the back (18”T at the seat). Each chair has been photographed separately. The close up photos after each individual chair picture reflects the flaws of that chair.

The oval pedestal table measures 52”L x 40”W x 29 1/2"T. Included are two 20” leaves to bring the table to a total length of 92” if needed. The table surface features and angled veneer and matching patterns and accents below. The veneer has some light scratches throughout and we have tried our best to get close up of the areas. Some of these scratches would not show unless the light reflected directly off of them. We have also included close-ups of areas below that have some cracks in the wood. These cracks do not go all the way through the wood. We assume since the set was from Florida these are cracks from the large changes in humidity throughout the seasons.

The leaves both have scratches with one having very heavy wear as shown. Although the edges of the table match in style, the veneer on top does not match but we have seen this before with table leaves since most of the time if you are using the leaves you are more than likely using a tablecloth.

The table has levers underneath at the at the bottom center of the supports. When you add the leaves the two table pedestals separate and support the table separately. The leaves rest on metal supports and lock into one another with pegs. We do not have a picture of this because the table top is currently separated from the base and the table could not be opened up safely without damaging the table.

We have taken several pictures of this set for you to view the condition. It has been used and it shows in a few spots, but with a little work this set could be brought back close to its original flair. While viewing the pictures, you will see spots throughout the yellow areas. These do not appear to be dirt and we can only assume this is part of the antique parchment finish that Thomasville applied to this set.
