Frankoma Pottery started in 1933 in Norman, Oklahoma and moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1938. They used Ada clay from Ada, Oklahoma until 1954, when they switched to Sapulpa clay, which fires to a reddish, terra cotta color. This very limited edition figure was fired in red Sapulpa clay. You can see this clay very well on the unglazed bottom.

Gerald Smith was a designer for Frankoma and he made only made a few nude woman figures in the 1990's, in several different poses. Each one of his figures are one of a kind, with even the ones in similar poses showing differences because of colors, glazing and firing techniques. This spectacular nude is hand-numbered 311 and is hand signed on the bottom by him. It stands a large 12 inches tall, holding a water jar on her shoulder with a drapery behind her, and is in absolute mint condition was no flaws whatsoever! The base is 4 1/4" square. It is glazed in a glossy cobalt finish that made taking photos of it outside difficult, but spectacular. (All white spots are reflections).
