RARE Fender 400ps 435 watts!! all tube SVT SERVICED!!

Early 70’s Fender 400ps 435 Watt ALL TUBE svt:

This amplifier is a monster!! 435 watts into three 4 ohm loads. The 400PS was made by fender to compete with the Ampeg SVT it also uses (6) 6550 Power tubes but in a different configuration. The 400ps basically has (3) 145 watt outputs (you must use 3 4ohm cabinets to get the full 435 watts) For every speaker connected (2) of the 6550 tubes are active. Also the 400ps runs at a higher plate voltage than the SVT, 750 Volts versus  660 Volts on the SVT. Also the 400ps uses a single 6L6 power tube as the driver for the interstage transformer which does the phase shifting (phase inverter).

This particular 400ps has been completely refurbished and very well maintained by amp tech John Mcneece (Class A Electronics, LLC/Diabolical Amplification). It has good working condition Power tubes, New filter Capacitors, and fuseable links added to each pair of tubes. These fuses were added for a couple of reasons: First if your using only one speaker than maxed out you can only draw about 3.3 amps of current, the mains fuse is rated at 10 amps to accomidate all 3 3.3amp sections, so if your only using 1 cab and a tube fails, or something else fails the amp would have to draw 10 amps of current before it blows the fuse, this could start a fire or damage a transformer. Second, if one of the tubes fails the added fuse will blow for that set only leaving you with 2 working sections instead of the whole amp shutting down. Please email any questions.
