At 6:01 p.m., April 4,1968, a finger pulled a trigger in Memphis, a .30-06 bullet flew 205 feet and in one-thirteenth of a second ended the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Eleven months and six days later, James Earl Ray, a criminal with a $50 price on his head, pleaded guilty to the murder and dropped ~ tantalizing hint of conspiracy.
