QUITE A RARE HORN POWDER FLASK,
 
THE TOP SECTION WITH THE POWDER MEASURING SECTION IS A LATER REPLACEMENT AND PROBABLY DATES FROM THE 19th CENTURY.
 
THE POWDER MEASURES ARE MARKED OFF AT - 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 and 3.DRAMS.
THE TINY LEVER IS MISSING AND WOULD NEED REPLACING.
THE LATER TOP SECTION ALL STRIPS DOWN FOR EASY ACCESS,SOME SMALL AREAS RUST - PLEASE SEE IMAGES.
 
THE SECTION THAT IS ATTATCHED TO THE HORN IS ORIGINAL AND HAS AN IMPRESSED MAKERS MARK "R.A"
THERE ARE TWO AGE CRACKS TO THE HORN.(NOT SERIOUS)
APROX 6" IN LENGTH.

John Campbell, 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Holland (1636–19 March 1717),
son of Sir John Campbell of Glen Orchy, and of the Lady Mary Graham, daughter of William Graham,
1st Earl of Airth, was a member of Scottish nobility during the Glorious Revolution and Jacobite risings and also known as "Slippery John".
An astutely political man, Campbell was one of the men implicated in the Massacre of Glencoe.
He took part in the abortive royalist uprising under Glencairn in 1654,
and was one of those who urged Monck to declare a free parliament in England to facilitate the restoration.
He sat in the Scottish parliament as member for Argyllshire from 1669 to 1674.
